Ventanilla Fire Station, Peru
While the fire service in Peru is federally funded, training firefighters is the responsibility of individual fire stations. Local fire stations are under-resourced and struggle to meet safety training requirements.
In 2002 and 2004, through our strategic partnership with World Vision, Firefighters Without Borders (FWB) partnered with the Ventanilla Fire Station (located near Lima, Peru) to deliver training in fire prevention, first aid, vehicle extrication, and hazardous materials. In addition to training, FWB also provided donated equipment including hydraulic rescue tools (also referred to as “Jaws of Life”).
