The work we do would not be possible without the generous support of our partners and donors. No matter how small or big, each donation helps emergency responders, from around the world, better protect their communities.
Thank you to all of the individuals, clubs, organizations, and businesses that have supported Firefighters Without Borders.

July 2021
In early June, the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation’s firehall burned to the ground. The Nation is located in remote northern Manitoba, about 850 km north of Winnipeg. The fire department lost vital firefighting equipment in the fire impeding their ability to protect their community. FWB was able to assist the community by providing more than 600 lbs of gear, including 12 sets of firefighting turnout suits with boots, helmets, gloves, and balaclavas. The new replacement value of these sets is approximately $30,000. FWB also donated 2,000 feet of synthetic hose valued at $15,000.

In response to the recent closure of Ontario’s Fire College and the push by the Ontario Government to modernize firefighting training, many small communities, including Laurier Township, are in the process of developing their own training centres. Chief Tom Holland, of the Laurier Fire Department, has secured funding and support for a new training centre in Laurier Township, located 300 km north of Toronto. The new centre will also support nearby fire departments with their own training needs. FWB has donated a range of firefighting and training equipment to Laurier that will be shared with nearby Northern Fire Protection Plan departments; the cost to purchase the donated equipment new is approximately $25,000.
April 2021
In March, the Township of Douro-Dummer donated extrication equipment—valued at $10,000—to Firefighters Without Borders. FWB facilitated the delivery of the equipment to the Municipality of Powassan Fire Department.
The Peterborough County Specialized Rescue Unit with the Eastern Ontario Emergency Training Academy also donated 20 Petzl helmets valued at $1,000.
Thanks to our volunteers, Len Gowan, and Ken Cox, for assisting with the donation logistics.

A big thank you to Chief Hankkio and Deputy Chief Paxton from the City of Thunder Bay Fire Rescue for donating 55 firefighter turnout suits to Firefighters Without Borders. And thank you to Jeff Leduc for helping with all of the logistics.
This essential firefighting equipment is now headed to Lac Seul Fire and Emergency Services.
What is a turnout suit? A turnout suit (or bunker gear) is the personal protective equipment (PPE) worn by firefighters.
