Training Programs.
Firefighters Without Borders (FWB) delivers targeted training programs to fire departments around the world. We work with key stakeholders to assess their needs and then we determine the most suitable training programs to meet those needs.
Firefighters Without Borders offers the following training programs to communities in need.
CPR and First Aid
Learning first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provides first responders with the knowledge to react appropriately in an emergency. We offer two programs that are taught according to internationally recognized standards:
one day, 8-hour program covering basic CPR and first aid
comprehensive 40-hour program suitable for emergency responders
Hazardous Materials Response
There are tens of thousands of chemicals in the world, some harmless and some deadly. Learning how to assess a hazardous material scenario and mitigate the impact is the focus of our Hazardous Materials Response (HazMat) training. Several levels of HazMat training programs are available. All programs meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 472 standards and can be tailored to a community’s specific needs.
Vehicle Extrication
An estimated 1.35 million deaths are caused by road traffic injuries around the world according to the World Health Organization. Knowing how to safely remove individuals quickly using the right equipment is essential.
We offer two training programs in vehicle rescue and extrication. Our Vehicle Extrication Basics program covers on-scene safety, scene stabilization, knowledge of basic tools and tool proficiency, using hand tool and power tool applications, and extrication techniques. Our Advanced Vehicle Extrication program covers the basics plus rescue techniques for responders with access to specialized rescue equipment, such as hydraulic rams and pressurized airbags.
